Focus on the artists......

This is the first of my 'focus' on the artists posts, as the weeks go by I will introduce you to all of the other members... We start with Pam, she is the owner of the gallery and a member of the co-op.

She says...I approach my work in an instinctual way and my work evolves organically. I began this creative journey having retired after years of working as a midwife. It is probably no surprise that my work is often rounded and tactile.
I am by nature optimistic, spontaneous and incredibly impatient.  I get engrossed in what I do and work impulsively. Having an interest in rites of passage, I feel my work connects with the past, the present, and the future.  I would describe my work as primitive, raw and naive, delivered with a dash of humour.
Following my two years at Camborne College, I wanted to further explore my experience of working with fused glass. In addition, I also love working with ceramics, and plan to try and integrate the two mediums, and methods, in the future.
I also produce Felt work. I include some images of Felt Urns I have produced to hold Ashes. They are bio-degradable, and therefore provide an eco-friendly option if Ashes are to be buried.

Forbidden fruit and autumn leaves..

 'Forbidden fruit'
acrylic on board, soon to be in Fannie and Fox..
(Such a naughty girl, tempting an 'innocent' guy..Look carefully in the water..)
Autumn leaves, I collected these a couple of weeks ago around Falmouth and pressed them in the telephone directory.  They are the beginnings of the autumn window and show at Fannie and Fox. Date of private view to follow..
It took ages to paint them with gel medium and it takes ages to dry, allegedly.

So, I walked up to the car boot whilst the first side was drying. I didn't get much, two old 'wire in trays', a scarf for Pam Tongue, 4 curly shelf brackets for my man's garage and a game of lexicon.. (Well, 2 part games really).. All for less than £3.00. I love a car boot and the treasures I find. Then back home to finish the leaves.. A good day.

Well here we go... On a Co-operative journey... 1st post...

Here goes...  I have been chosen/invited to join the Co-op.. Ha!!  Yes, it is the Co-op. But not as you know it.. An artists Co-op set up by an amazing lady called Pam Tongue, more about the amazing Pam soon.
I would like to invite you to join me, on a journey with Fannie and Fox, a Gallery run as a Co-Operative in Penryn, Cornwall.  My idea is to write a blog about my adventures with the other artists at Fannie & Fox and this is my very first post.  I expect the layout will change as I rack my brain on how to play around and make it better, It's been years since I set up my last one so please bare with me..

My plan is to show you around the gallery, I will introduce you to the other artists and show you their work.. I'm also hoping that they will invite me to their studio's to take a little peek and take a few photo's for the blog. (How I love an artists studio)..

The blog will be a warts and all blog. So, good times will be recorded along with the not so good times too.. The ups and downs of working with a lot of creative women should be an interesting read. I hope!

Also in the mix I will show you my new work that is going in the gallery and perhaps a peek or two at other galleries in Penryn, Falmouth and the local area.. Meeting other artists as we go..
Here are a few of the pieces I have put into the gallery.
